The Conservation Science and Preventive Conservation team is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and flexible person to join their team as an Assistant Preventive Conservator.

This fixed-term contract is to provide support for environmental monitoring and reporting to Tate standards, and to contribute to lighting monitoring and integrated pest management across Tate’s display and storage sites. The post will also provide Preventive Conservation support for our exciting exhibitions and displays programme.

The Conservation Science and Preventive Conservation team are one of five teams within the Conservation Department at Tate, forming part of the Collections Care Division, also comprising of Library and Archives and Collections Management. The Division works across all Tate sites; Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives and our central London sites (Tate Britain, Tate Modern and Tate Stores).

This role will primarily work across Tate Britain, Tate Modern and Tate Stores, enabling preservation and access to Tate’s collections.

The post requires knowledge of Preventive Conservation principles, practice and standards. We are seeking someone who holds a recognised qualification in Preventive Conservation or has equivalent relevant training and/or experience in this area. You will be knowledgeable in environmental monitoring systems and building management systems and have experience of data analysis and report writing in this area. It is also important that you understand the long-term care issues in your specialist area.
