Job Description

The Whitney Museum of American Art seeks an AV projectionist to work 30 hours per week on a variety of projects and events. Expertise in 35 and 16 mm film projection is required. In addition, the projectionist will help maintain the smooth operation of AV equipment required for exhibitions, events, public programs, and other projects, and will work on installations containing AV components.

The position will include working with internal clients for event support and management including preparing and setting up portable audio video equipment for special engagements, conferences, committee meetings, seminars, etc. Other assignments may include: maintaining and operating computer-based audio/visual solutions including video conferencing, webcasting, video streaming, video-on-demand, kiosks and video panels; performing preventative and corrective maintenance, set-up, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of existing systems; and responding to network based monitoring systems to ensure maximum uptime of equipment in public spaces. Real-world experience in computer-based multimedia installations desired, including custom network (tcp/ip) based video control systems, integrated systems, Microsoft Windows 2000 PC clients, audio solutions, Sound Web, lighting control, video players and controllers, commercial LCD panels, LCD& DLP projectors.

Requirements

10+ years of experience; knowledge of AV technology, including but not limited to audio system design and operation, analogue and digital sound consoles, 35mm and 16mm projectors, film loopers, LCD and DLP projectors, slide projectors, CRT and flat screen monitors, HD servers, and video files; experience with complex technical needs of a contemporary art museum; computer proficient (MS Office and TMS preferred). B.A. in related field a plus but not required. Outstanding organizational and communication skills, ability to meet firm deadlines, and good judgment are essential. Must be a team player.
