Job Description

This a temporary grant-funded position for the LACMA Blackburn Collection project, for the period of February 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. The Collection Information Technician will work as a member of the project processing team to photograph and digitize objects in LACMA’s Mark and Carolyn Blackburn Collection of Photography, and prepare upload sheets for ingestion into LACMA’s Digital Asset Management System and The Museum System (TMS) collections management database.

Some duties include: photographs fragile objects across a wide range of photographic media utilizing a copy stand; processes image files, including color correction, cropping, and creation of Master and Access copies; prepares image files and associated metadata for upload to ODIN; edits/updates metadata in TMS and/or ODIN, as needed; performs other duties or special projects as assigned; maintains regular and reliable attendance.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Museum Studies, Library Sciences, or other related field. At least 1 year of experience working with a museum collections management database, digital asset management systems, and working in a team environment is required. Experience with Adobe Design Suite (specifically Photoshop, Acrobat, and Bridge) is highly preferred. The ability to lift at least 40 lbs. and stand for long periods when working is required.
