Part-Time Visitor Service Assistant 


DMA Mission:

Schedule:
Flexible schedules including: Evenings until 9 pm, “Late Night” Fridays until midnight, Saturdays and Sundays 10 am – 5 pm, special events, holidays, and regular museum and office hours.

Scope of Position:
The Visitor Service Assistant is the first point of contact for visitors to the DMA. The position informs and serves visitors of the Dallas Museum of Art by providing information about the DMA Members program, Museum guidelines, safety, education programs, activities, and the Dallas Arts District community in general, as well as processing financial transactions for box office and exhibition ticket sales. The Part Time Visitor Service Assistant will work less than 30 hours each week.
 
Essential Functions:
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors through various channels of contact including face to face interactions, and responding to calls
• Greet and assist visitors with a high level of customer service, providing a welcoming and friendly environment for the visitors to enjoy their experience
• Provide information to visitors about the DMA Members program, the Museum’s policies, events, services, programs and community extending to the Dallas Arts District
• Effectively cross-sell DMA Members program and be familiar with the program and benefits.
• Accurately and efficiently handle cash and credit card financial transactions for box office, ticket sales, parking and assist with group tour requests (as needed)
• Perform opening and closing procedures, and basic office duties and light clerical computer work, such as, data entry into our ticketing system
• Administer DMA guidelines and emergency procedures, effectively assisting with difficult situations and emergency response
• Work and interact with a diverse group of people, including all levels of the executive, management and frontline teams and the public
 
Education, Experience, and Certification:
• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree a plus
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred
• One or more years of experience in a customer/visitor service environment, demonstrating exceptional service skills
• Strong computer skills a plus - Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); experience with point-of-sale systems, data entry and client relationship databases

Key Qualifications:
• Ability to work well and multi-task under pressure and with large crowds
• Calm and patient demeanor when handling difficult interactions
• Warm, professional, outgoing attitude when dealing with the public
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, around event times that change; overtime may be required
• Attention to detail and ability to accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
• Ability to handle multiple phone lines in a busy museum environment
